Rep. David Simpson gained some attention with Texas House Bill 41 which would outlaw federal agents touching a traveler’s private parts before boarding an airliner.
Now a petition on Whitehouse.gov aims to abolish the TSA altogether.
The White House recently launched We the People. (Ok, "We the People" was actually the Founders’ idea, but the White House is borrowing the name for a new web site). Billed as "your voice in government" the site provides tools to create an online petition. The White House has promised to issue an official response to any petition that garners 5,000 signatures in 30 days.
A petition created yesterday to abolish the TSA has already attracted 9,000 + signatures. Calling the TSA a "kafkaesque embarrassment," the petition requests that the administration
Abolish the TSA, and use its monstrous budget to fund more sophisticated, less intrusive counter-terrorism intelligence.
The official response should be interesting.
